Finding a shop can be a stressful, time-consuming experience. Here are a few pointers to help you locate a quality automotive repair shop:Is the shop neat and clean?
- Are the employees courteous and concerned with helping you?
- Look at the credentials of the business. Are they affiliated with trade associations such as the ASA (Automotive Service Association), AASP (Alliance of Service Providers)? Is the shop a member of the BBB (Better Business Bureau)?
- Look for training credentials of the service staff. Are they certified by ASE (Automotive Service Excellence)? Certification means the technician has passed a voluntary written exam and has a basic understanding in the areas specified.
- Ask if the equipment is up to date for your year, make and model of car. Today’s vehicles change from year to year and from model to model.
- Always ask about any inspection or diagnostic charges up front.
- Make sure the shop does not do any repairs until an estimate is given and authorization is made.
- Make sure all the repairs come with a warranty.
